In this post we are going to talk about a type of industrial connectors that are becoming a bestseller in today’s market. These are the Carter MultiPolar B-C connectors. So I recommend that you review their features in case you need to know more about them in the future or, if you already use them, how to get the most out of them.
What are the features of the CARTER MultiPolar B-C Series connectors?
Design and manufacture
This series of B-C series devices are MultiContacts that require a robust and robust construction, as they are used in industrial applications. It has a degree of protection classified as IP-68. In addition, they are manufactured in different sizes, so they can be used for many different jobs; sizes range from 50mm to 300mm insulation.
The best feature they have is that they are configurable, so you can place the contacts as best suits you at the level of distribution and type required. In the section referring to the way of coupling them to other devices we can say that they are manufactured in two types: screw coupling (defined as type 01) or lever coupling (defined as type 03).
In addition, all of our MultiPolar B casings are manufactured with a cover to protect the interconnect face when the devices are not connected. As we can see, it is an interesting safety measure to include in these connectors.
Applications and combinations
These types of connectors are very necessary for many applications, which is why we find them present in many of them, especially where a secure and robust connection is required. The most common places to find this type of connectors for railway, naval, cranes, heavy industry, chemical, mining…
The aerial connectors have couplings for corrugated cable glands. Electrical contacts can be combined with fibre optic contacts, fluids, coaxial contacts and air. For this reason, signals of a different nature are integrated into a single connector, which will be the same for everyone.
Electrical type contacts can have a small current, high speed signal that advances to a higher voltage (pins with cones are available). They have a positioner that causes a pair of connectors to line up and those that remain insulated have turns that reduce the fact that there are errors when the system has several connectors.
By the nature of the currents and voltages, you can get an idea that the most important thing for the manufacturers of this type of connector is that the operator has good safety. The operator must be able to manipulate the connector and all the systems around it in order to be able to control possible faults affecting safety. But the operators themselves are trained from the start to avoid this type of event, which can be serious in nature. All this is done in accordance with IEC and UL electrical safety standards.
So for the reasons we’ve been seeing throughout the post, we can say that the Carter Multipolar B-C connectors are very safe and are perfectly prepared for industrial acquisition.
