There are different types of\u00a0<\/span>coaxial connectors, both for baseband and broadband. Today we talk to you about the\u00a0<\/span>most common RF coaxial connectors<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>we work with and tell you about their main use.<\/p>\n

Most common RF coaxial connectors for broadband<\/h2>\n

IEC 169-2 connector<\/h3>\n

This will probably be the most common connector, or at least the most well-known \u2013 and also the oldest \u2013 one for the most part. This is the\u00a0<\/span>antenna cable for European TVs and FM\/DAB radio<\/strong>, which we all have at home plugged into the TV.<\/p>\n

F-connector<\/h2>\n

It was invented in the 1950s to develop cable TV but it wasn\u2019t until the 1970s that it became a common connector for the VHF antenna and later for the UHF.<\/p>\n

BNC Connector<\/h3>\n

It is a\u00a0<\/span>male connector that is installed on both sides of a cable for use in Ethernet and video network connections<\/strong>. It is complemented by a ring that enables connections to the female\u00a0<\/span>BNC connectors.<\/p>\n

Most common RF coaxial connectors for baseband<\/h2>\n

XLR-3 connector<\/h3>\n

It is used for professional audio applications and is the most common in spectacular lighting equipment,\u00a0<\/span>capable of transmitting the DMX digital control signal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although this is the most standardized, there are 4 to 8 pins (the number of the end).<\/p>\n

RCA<\/h3>\n

The male has a positive pole in the center surrounded by a metal ring with an intermediate part that isolates.<\/p>\n

JACK<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s the\u00a0<\/span>audio connector<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>we enjoy today for our headphones on a laptop, for example. It transmits sound analogically.<\/p>\n

At present we have more than standardized in 3.5 mm but there are also 2.5 mm and 6.35 mm. The latter is widely used in musical instruments and professionally.<\/p>\n

RF coaxial connectors for special applications<\/h2>\n

UHF<\/h3>\n

Mini UHF<\/h3>\n

This is the\u00a0<\/span>mini version of the previous one<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and was created to be used in mobile telephony and other applications where size was a very important factor.<\/p>\n

FME<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>FME connector,\u201dFor Mobile Equipment<\/em>\u201d we deduce that this type of\u00a0<\/span>common coaxial RF connector<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is used -now much less now- in all types of installations and mobile applications, offering a great performance at 2.0 Ghz.<\/p>\n

SMA<\/h3>\n

It is a threaded\u00a0<\/span>connector that is used in microwaves<\/strong>, with a great utility for frequencies up to 33 Ghz.<\/p>\n
